Churchill Park Doubles FUNdraiser
With the first basket of the course getting installed, we are stoked to be able to offer up more FUNdraising tournaments at Churchill Park for the warmer months.
This will be a Best-Shot Doubles format. We would like to try an A pool/B pool setting and set an A player with a B player on each team to make sure things are even for any newer players in this tournament.
Just like last year, we will be having portable baskets on temporary hole layouts. So if you have a basket and you can make it, please do! The holes will be set up pretty similar to what they will be when the course is in a permanent setting but again, there will be some that are only laid out for this tournament for fun and won’t actually be installed on a permanent layout.
Lunch is on us! We will be having some food on the grill, not sure what yet.
There will be CTP set up on our new permanent basket for 1.00/2 shots
There will also be an ace race set up with one of the temporary baskets for 1.00/shot – we will run the Ace Race for a half hour. If no one hits it, the pot will be reverted into course funds. However, if someone hits, they get the pot.
If an ace pot is wanted, we will have one (same as ace race, if no hits, reverts to course funds).
There will also be some Champion Katanas up for sale at a lower price in order to get on to our next FUNdraiser disc – Wizards.
If you have an overflow of discs, bring em out! We’ll set up a vendor row with everyone.
Cost for this tournament is going to be 20.00 and will break down like this:
11.00 – course improvements
3.00 – lunch
6.00 – payout
You will be paid out based on a PDGA payout board, so the more people who show up, the more you can win!
And as always, everyone will walk away with something!

The first basket is in at Churchill Park in Liberty TWP, OH (a suburb North of Youngstown).
The park offers several different streams and creeks, many hills and lots of wooded area to use for the installation of this course.
We are hoping to have the front 9 installed by the end of the year and to be completed with the course by the end of 2013.
Be sure to stop out and build your own sarafi round with the new basket by the volleyball court!

2nd Annual Frozen Finger Fairway Charity Tour
This is the Third of 6 charity tournaments brought to you by the North East Ohio Disc Golf Alliance for 2012
You can visit Disc Golf Scene to pre register for the tournament.
The $20 entry fee is split as follows per participant
$2 goes to the Winter Point Series
$9 goes to Charity
$9 goes to Event Payout
Lunch will be provided at each event by the locals… last year we had some pretty awsome spreads. All included in the entry.
The point series is simple. Every time a player participates in an event they should enter the same division. In doing so, they will get a point for themself and a point for every player in their division that they beat. At the end, the top 30% of the field for each division will be payed out the money collected.
The final event will be at Sims Park in Euclid. It will be a PDGA Sanctioned Ice Bowl, worth double points for all participants.
Each event will payout to those who participate. just as with the PDGA…
pros = cash… ams = merchandise
The charity will rotate annually. Last year it was the Akron/Canton Food Bank.($2020.75 raised)*** lets beat it ***
This year the Charity will be The Cleveland Food Bank. It is a Four Star Charity with a Rating of 62.61 out of 70. 94.9% of all donations go to assisting the less fortunate with a wide array of services that go way beyond just handing out food. Open your heart and huck plastic for a good cause.
Each event’s proceeds will be set aside to be added together with the next… All money raised will be donated at one time at the end of the series.

Churchill Park FUNdraisers Raise FUNds!
Over the last few months, the TCDGA has held (and is still holding) a series of FUNdraiser tournaments for a new Course Installation at Churchill Park in Liberty Township, a suburb of Youngstown.
To date, 3 tournaments have been held on location at Churchill Park on a set up through the park using portable baskets. Through these tournaments, we have seen more than 40 people play this for-fun layout, featuring some holes planned for permanent installation, and raised more than 400.00 for the new course.
The Associates have secured our first basket, to be able to have a practice hole set up for showcasing to local businesses for hole sponsorships and will have it installed as soon as the weather allows for it.
The next FUNdraiser tournament will be held on Sunday, February 26 at Churchill Park. Registration will be from 10:00am-12:00pm and Tee Off will be at 12:00 as registration closes. Entry is only 10.00 to help install this course, lunch is ALWAYS free at these FUNdraisers and EVERYONE walks away with something from first place all the way to 100th place. At these FUNdraisers, we have always had 50/50 raffles and CTP (1 throw included with entry, each extra throw is 1.00) to give more chances to win!
Come on out and join us for some FUN Disc Golf, FREE Lunch and YOUR prizes!

New Spin on Golf Game Opens at Moquito Lake
On Sunday, October 16, about a dozen disc golf die hards braved the weather to attend the official grand opening ceremony for the new, Squirrel Run Disc Golf Course at Mosquito Lake State Park in Cortland, OH. There was a 2-shot CTP followed by a round of best-shot doubles and some lunch afterward.
TV-27, WKBN was on scene with cameras rolling to catch the action and had this to report:
“Some golf lovers braved the cold and rain today to celebrate the opening of the a new disc golf course at Mosquito Lake State Park in Cortland.
The new twelve-hole Squirrel Run course was designed by a local man, and even features a hole that’s across the lake.
“It just adds another recreational opportunity for the public. It adds a new disc golf course to the area, as well as to the state park,” said Doug Lyons, Northeast District Park Manager.
The course is open to the public and free to use. You do have to provide your own discs. There are discs available to rent or purchase from the park office.
The disc golf course is open year-round.”

Warren Takes Ashtabula (9/17/11)
As always the Shoot the Breeze Disc Golf Club were great hosts in the whompin’ put on by the Warren gang at the Sticky Fingers Ace Run – sweeping the event taking first, second, and third in the event. Called Sticky Fingers with an all out BBQ happening for the weekend at Lakeshore Park. mmmmm good.
The gang faired well in the scramble that followed taking second, yielding to a couple of Euclid ringers.
